DONWENNA BEAST HEALER OF CAID
BY BRAD OF CAMBRIA © Brad Banyan
Whilst riding out on errantry, my fortune for to find
A fair damsel from Dreiburgen was pleasing to my mind.
She cast a spell on me that day, of which I've not been freed,
And her name was Donwenna, Beast Healer of Caid
Exotic creatures came to her and in her care were blessed.
She healed injured unicorns ,with dragons she was best.
All animals both great and small, of every shape and breed,
All owe their lives to Donwenna Beast Healer of Caid.
Way down in yonder shady grove, Sir George was his name,
Set fire to the village there, then to dragons he laid blame.
The populace believed his lie, not knowing of his deed,
Yes no one knew but Donwenna Beast Healer of Caid.
The bishops of the church declared Sir George to be a saint,
He set ablaze a dragon's lair in spite of my complaint.
Then I overheard his plan to burn the fields where they breed,
And the cottage home of Donwenna Beast Healer of Caid.
I rode up to my rival, Gauntlet in my hand.
It sailed through the open air, and at his feet did land.
I charged at him with lowered lance; I made Saint George bleed,
I did this deed for Donwenna Beast Healer of Caid.
The King did call on Dowenna to stand before the throne,
And apologised to her for the dishonor she was shown,
Then said, "We've no chirurgeon for falcon, hound . and steed.
For this purpose we need Donwenna Beast Healer of Caid."
